• BROADCASTING. The Public Broadcasting Service hired Covington & Burling to lobby on the transition from analog to digital television. Joan Kutcher is representing PBS, according to the registration.
• ENERGY. BKSH & Associates has been hired by Yukos International UK, a financial holding company of the now-bankrupt Russian oil company, to educate the public and private sector officials on the ongoing legal case surrounding the expropriation of Yukos, Senate lobbying records show.
Shell Oil Company hired Breaux Lott Leadership Group to lobby on climate change and offshore oil and gas development issues, Senate lobbying records show.
• GUNS. The National Rifle Association hired Ball Janik 's Erica Rhoad, a former Republican staff aide on the House Resources Committee, to lobby on bills that relate to hunting and wildlife management, according to Senate lobbying records.
• IMMIGRATION. The United States and Mexico Border Counties Foundation has hired the Duetto Group and lobbyist Shawn Bullard, a former press secretary to Rep. Gene Taylor (D-Miss.), to help with a “public awareness campaign” designed to highlight the impact federal immigration policy is having on state and local governments.
• MEDIA. Clear Channel Communications hired BGR Holding to lobby on issues relating to media ownership and other matters. BGR's Bryan Cunningham, a former aide to Sens. John Ensign (R-Nev.) and Judd Gregg (R-N.H.), is lobbying for Clear Channel.
• TECHNOLOGY. Google hired the Franklin Square Group . Matt Tanielian and Josh Ackil, former Democratic staff aides, founded the firm and will track “competition issues in the Internet industry” for Google.
• TRANSPORT. The American Chemical Council hired the Bockorny Group to lobby on bills relating to railroad antitrust exemptions. Lobbyists David Bockorny and Sander Lurie, a former chief of staff to Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), are representing ACC.
