• ENERGY. Energy Future Holdings hired Bracewell & Giuliani to lobby on clean air regulations and climate change legislation, according to Senate lobbying records. Scott Segal, E. Dee Martin, Joshua Zive and Jeffrey Holmstead, a former air and radiation administrator at the Environmental Protection Agency, are lobbying for the energy company.

• FINANCIAL SERVICES. Wachovia Corp. hired Barnett Sivon & Natter to lobby on issues relating to appraisals, according to Senate lobbying records.

• HIGHER EDUCATION.
Oberlin College hired B&D Consulting to lobby on issues relating to green buildings and renewable energy, registration forms show. Phillip Singerman, a former assistant Commerce secretary, is among the group of four lobbyists helping Oberlin on Capitol Hill.

• MEDICAL DEVICES. ReGen Biologics of Hackensack, N.J., hired the Alpine Group to lobby on ìissues related to the Food and Drug Administration,î Senate lobbying records show. James Hawkins of Alpine is representing the company.

• TAX. Cauthen Forbes & Williams is lobbying for Motorola , the electronics manufacturer. Jeff Forbes, a former chief of staff to Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.); Ryan Welch, a former top aide to Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) and others are helping Motorola lobby Congress to extend critical research and development tax breaks, lobbying records show.

• TELECOMMUNICATIONS. Verizon hired Robert Garcia & Associates to lobby on telecommunications issues, Senate lobbying records show. Garcia is a former Democratic congressman from New York.

• TRADE. Ann Taylor , the apparel manufacturer, hired Sorini, Samet, and Associates to lobby on “wool supply issues,” according to Senate lobbying records.

• WILDLIFE. The Wild Raptor Take Conservancy , a nonprofit falconry organization, hired Birch, Horton, Bittner & Cherot to lobby on U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service regulations. William Horn, a former Interior Department assistant secretary for Fish, Wildlife and Parks; David Lampp, a former aide to the late Rep. Tillie Fowler (R-Fla.); and Edwina Langerberg-Miller, a former staffer to Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), are lobbying for the group.
