Under contract

• The Education Department modified an information technology contract with a subsidiary of Dell Inc. on May 27, adding $26.3 million to fund a third option year through November 2011. Dell will continue to provide “all personnel, materials, services, and facilities necessary” for the department’s information technology needs. The contract is in year three of a 10-year contract.


• The Treasury Department, on behalf of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, awarded a $30 million blanket purchase agreement to DraftFCB on May 27 for advertising work. DraftFCB will provide services for the National Youth Anti-Drug Media’s “Above the Influence” campaign, including preparation, production and follow-up on the campaign ads and website. The contract is set to end April 2015.


• The Energy Department obligated an additional $444 million to Los Alamos National Security Limited Liability Co. on May 27 for operating and managing Los Alamos National Lab. The department’s funding allocation is specifically for running the national security research lab, as the company is paid per quality of services at a separate time. The contract is through September 2015, at which point it could be renewed through 2026.


• The Navy awarded Hensel Phelps Construction Co. a $70.3 million contract on June 6 to construct a training facility and multi-story aircraft storage building. Hensel Phelps Construction will build a new facility for F-35B Joint Strike Fighters with training classrooms and flight simulator spaces. The contract, which will be completed by September 2013, will be fulfilled in Beaufort, S.C.
