• President Obama has nominated Chester Culver to be a member of the board of directors at the Federal Agricultural Mortgage Corp. Culver currently is manager and director of the Chet Culver Group and was the Democratic governor of Iowa from 2007 to 2011. He also served two terms as Iowa’s secretary of state.

• The president nominated David Montoya to be inspector general of the Housing and Urban Development Department. Montoya is the special agent in charge of the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General’s Western Area Field Office. He also worked for the Interior Department’s Office of Inspector General as the assistant inspector general for investigations and for the Environmental Protection Agency’s Criminal Investigation Division as deputy director.

• The president has submitted the nomination of Bruce Sherrick for a seat on the board of directors for the Federal Agricultural Mortgage Corp. Sherrick currently works at the University of Illinois as a professor of agricultural and applied finance and as the Center for Farm and Rural Business Finance’s director within the university’s Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics. He also is a managing partner with integrated Financial Analytics & Research. 

• President Obama has nominated Michael Walter Fitzgerald to the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Fitzgerald is a partner at Corbin, Fitzgerald & Athey. He also worked for the Law Offices of Robert L. Corbin PC and the law firm Heller, Ehrman, White & McAuliffe. He was a Los Angeles assistant U.S. attorney for approximately three years, and he clerked for Judge Irving Kaufman of the 2nd District U.S. Court of Appeals.
