The biggest public relations firm in the U.S. has formally stated it will not work on campaigns that deny climate change.
According to The Guardian, the firm Edelman contacted the publication after it ran a list of top firms in the industry that considered climate change a threat, and said the firm would refuse clients that denied it.
“Edelman fully recognizes the reality of, and science behind, climate change, and believes it represents one of the most important global challenges facing society, business and government today," it reads. "To be clear, we do not accept client assignments that aim to deny climate change.”
Every year Edelman and other firms make millions on messaging and campaigns representing the American Petroleum Institute and conservative groups like American Legislative Exchange Council.
