Former Obama campaign manager Messina starts consulting firm

By Kevin Bogardus - 02/27/13 08:56 AM ET

Jim Messina, the campaign manager for President Obama’s reelection bid, launched his own consulting firm on Wednesday.

The Messina Group will advise clients, including political campaigns, that “want to build movements, services and products that succeed by being data-driven, digitally savvy and grassroots focused,” according to a statement from the firm.

Joining Messina at his firm will be Ty Matsdorf, who was the war room director for American Bridge, a Democratic-leaning super-PAC, and who led communications for Obama for America-Nevada.

Tara Corrigan, a former Obama for America 2012 aide who first worked in then-Sen. Obama’s Chicago office in 2007, is also joining the firm.

Messina remains closely linked to the president. The former White House deputy chief of staff is chairman of Organizing for Action, an outside group formed to support the president’s second-term agenda.
