•COMPUTERS. Blank Rome Government Relations is lobbying for McAfee Inc., which makes anti-virus computer software. The firm is lobbying on cyber-security issues as they arise on Capitol Hill.

•DEFENSE. Van Scoyoc Associates is lobbying for the Ashbury International Group, a military technology company. Brian Miller, a former district director to former Rep. Jeb Bradley (R-N.H.), is one of three lobbyists who are working on behalf of the company.

Holland & Knight is lobbying for Indra Systems on defense and budget issues, according to Senate lobbying records.

•ENERGY. The Alpine Group’s Charles Barnett, Michael Henry, Courtney Johnson and James Massie are lobbying for the National Mining Association, one of several new clients the firm has signed in recent weeks. Alpine’s Rhod Shaw and Ansley Davis, a former legislative assistant to Rep. Nathan Deal (R-Ga.), are representing XO Communications, and Shaw, Henry and Les Spivey, a former Senate Appropriations Committee staff member, are lobbying on behalf of the Texas Medical Center.

The Edison Electric Institute, the utility group, hired Mehlman Vogel Castagnetti to lobby on climate-change legislation, according to Senate lobbying records.

•HEALTHCARE. Hogan & Hartson is lobbying for Pharmathene, a company that is developing countermeasures to biological terrorism. Lobbyist Christine Warnke is tracking the Health and Human Services spending bill and the defense authorization bill for the company, according to lobbying records.

Heather Podesta & Partners has several clients, including Health South Corp. Heather Podesta and Laura Joshua are lobbying on behalf of the hospital system.

Preston Memorial Hospital hired Strategic Health Care to lobby for federal appropriations, according to Senate lobbying records.

•INTERNATIONAL TRADE. Isanbul Ticaret Odasi, Istanbul’s chamber of commerce, hired MWW Group for “general trade facilitation,” according to the lobbying registration. 

•TRANSPORTATION. Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld is lobbying for the Pensacola Regional Airport. The lobbying team includes David Carlin, Anthony Foti, Travers Garvin, Bill Paxon and James Tucker.
