03/21/07 11:35 AM ET

Former Sen. Jim Talent (R-Mo.) has joined Fleishman-Hillard Government Relations as a co-chairman, the group announced Wednesday.

In a press release, Talent said he would be working on healthcare, transportation and military issues for the Washington firm. Talent will work in the group¹s Washington and St. Louis offices.

“Senator Talent has a well-earned reputation for working across party lines to find mainstream, bipartisan solutions to critical public policy issues,” Dave Senay, president and CEO of Fleishman-Hillard, said in a statement.

Talent served four years in the Senate after winning a special election in 2002. He was defeated in November by Democrat Claire McCaskill.
