AGRICULTURE. The United Egg Producers hired Ogilvy Government Relations to lobby on issues relating to the farm bill reauthorization and the Clean Water Act. Lobbyists Thomas Hebert and Julie Dammann are working the account.

ENERGY. Archer Daniels Midland Co. hired Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld to lobby on “biofuels policy and tax and agriculture issues,” according to Senate lobbying records.
Ethanex Energy hired Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman to lobby on “issues related to ethanol and renewable energy policies,” according to the Senate lobbying registration. The lobbying team includes Joseph Lanier, a former legal counsel to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

FINANCIAL SERVICES. Williams & Connolly hired Clyburn Consulting to lobby on behalf of Franklin Raines.

HEALTHCARE. The American Optometric Association hired Russ Reid Co. to lobby on federal funds for infant eye exams. Russ Reid’s Mark McIntyre and Scott MacConomy are representing the association.

HIGHER EDUCATION. The Carmen Group is lobbying on behalf of Florida’s Saint Petersburg College. Lobbyists John Ladd, Terrence O’Connell and Jennifer Scheitler are working the account.

INFRASTRUCTURE. The Lewis & Clark Rural Water System in Sioux Falls, S.D., hired the Bockorny Group to lobby on its behalf, according to Senate lobbying records.

MEDIA. Heather Podesta & Partners is lobbying on behalf of the Hearst Corp. on the shield law, an effort to allow journalists to keep their sources   confidential. Barbara Comstock of Conallo Comstock Inc. also is lobbying for Hearst.

MISC. The National Association of Convenience Stores hired Steptoe & Johnson to lobby on a variety of issues.

PATENT REFORM. The Coalition for Patent Fairness hired Patton Boggs to lobby on patent reform, according to Senate lobbying records.

TAXES. Orbitz Worldwide hired Wexler & Walker Public Policy Associates to lobby on Internet tax issues. Lobbyists Tim Hannegan and Dale Snape are listed on the Senate lobbying registration.

TRADE. Starbucks Corp. hired the Whitaker Group to lobby on trade issues. Francesta Farmer, a former senior policy adviser to Rep. Juanita Millender-McDonald (D-Calif.), is among the lobbyists listed on the registration.
