WilmerHale makes another FBI hire

WilmerHale has tapped Aaron Zebley, a former the chief of staff to former FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III, to become a partner in its Washington office.

He joins the firm a week after it was announced that Mueller would become a partner at the firm.

Most recently, Zebley served as a senior counselor in the Justice Department’s National Security Division.

“Building a practice in an environment with well-established investigations and cybersecurity groups was critical in my decision to join WilmerHale,” Zebley said in a release. “There are great opportunities here for me to successfully bridge my background with the practice areas that I know best.”

Before working for Mueller, he worked in the in the National Security and Terrorism Unit in Alexandria, Va., as an assistant U.S. attorney. In that role, “he investigated and prosecuted crimes related to national security, terrorism, and violent crime,” the firm says.

He also worked in the FBI’s Counterterrorism Division for seven years.

Robert Novick, co-managing partner of WilmerHale, said that Zebley’s experience “will add to our internal investigations, crisis management, and cybersecurity capabilities.”

“He will provide immeasurable value in areas where we are already strong and growing,” Novick wrote in a statement.
