• AVIATION. The National Business Travel Association has hired Cornerstone Government Affairs to lobby on the Federal Aviation Administration reauthorization bill. Michelle Mrdeza, a former House Appropriations Committee aide, is lobbying for the trade group.

• DEFENSE. Symetrics Industries, an information-technology company, has hired American Defense International Inc. to lobby on the defense appropriations and authorizations bill. Dave Meyers, a former legislative aide to then-Sen. Pete Domenici (R-N.M.), is lobbying for the company.

• ENERGY. D4 Energy Group, an alternative energy company, has hired Jim Saxton LLC to lobby on the defense authorization bill. Former Rep. Jim Saxton (R-N.J.) is lobbying for the company.

• ENVIRONMENT. Williams and Jensen has been hired by Environmental Common Sense, a water treatment provider, to lobby on “water conservation and energy efficiency technology issues,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Jenny DiJames, a former legislative director to then-Rep. Bud Cramer (D-Ala.), and Michael Beer, a former legislative assistant to then-Rep. Dave Hobson (R-Ohio), are lobbying for the company.
The Grocery Manufacturers Association has hired Sidley Austin to lobby on “amendments of the Toxic Substances Control Act including the registration, management and overall regulation of chemicals,” according to lobbying disclosure records.

• FINANCIAL SERVICES. Ogilvy Government Relations has been hired by StoneRiver Holdings Inc. to lobby on “insurance-related issues,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Justin Daly, former counsel to the Senate Banking and House Financial Services committees, as well as top Republican fundraiser Wayne Berman are lobbying for the company.

The Credit Union National Association has hired Hecht Spencer & Associates Inc. to lobby on the Small Business Lending Fund Act of 2010. Timothy Hecht, a former deputy political director for the first Bush White House, and Franklin Phifer, a former aide to the House Ways and Means Committee, are lobbying for the trade group.

• HEALTHCARE. The Ben Barnes Group is lobbying for Service Wing Healthcare, a startup medical company, on “medical device/tech deployment,” according to lobbying disclosure records.

• TECHNOLOGY. Vinson & Elkins has registered to lobby for Lazo Technologies, a technology infrastructure company, on “issues relating to telecommunications,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Alberto Cardenas, former general counsel to Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas), is lobbying for the company.

• TELECOMMUNICATIONS. Kodiak-Kenai Cable Co., a telecommunications cable provider, has hired Denny Miller Associates to lobby on issues related to telecommunications policy.
