• APPROPRIATIONS. The Oregon governor’s office has hired Ball Janik to lobby on “budget, appropriations, reauthorization, policy important to state government,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Mark Derick, a former senior legislative aide to Rep. Rush Holt (D-N.J.), is lobbying for the governor’s office.
• DEFENSE. American Defense International Inc. has been hired by NewWell, a Finnish heart-rate monitor manufacturer, to help set up “meetings with officials regarding remote stress monitoring product,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Van Hipp Jr., formerly a deputy assistant secretary of the Army and principal general counsel for the Navy, is lobbying for the company.
• HEALTHCARE. The Breaux Lott Leadership Group, an affiliate of Patton Boggs, has been hired by Forest Laboratories, a pharmaceutical company headquartered in New York City, to lobby on “issues with respect to debarment under HHS regulations,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Former Sen. John Breaux (D-La.) is lobbying for the company.
Athenahealth has hired Alston & Bird to lobby on the healthcare reform law, the stimulus package and other issues. Thomas Scully, a former administrator of the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services, and Colin Roskey are lobbying for the company.
Tauzin Strategic Networks has been hired by the Partnership for Quality Home Healthcare to present “a home health package (The Skilled Home Health Integrity and Program Savings Act of 2011) for ongoing debt ceiling negotiations,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Former Rep. Billy Tauzin (R-La.) is lobbying for the company.
• TELECOMMUNICATIONS. Motorola Solutions has hired mCapitol Management to lobby on “D Block funding,” according to lobbying disclosure records.
