• ENERGY. Denny Miller Associates has been hired by Ensyn Corp. to lobby on “issue relating to biofuel industry. EISA 2007 federal regulations,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Denny Miller, once chief of staff to Sen. Henry “Scoop” Jackson (D-Wash.), is lobbying for the company.

 • FINANCIAL SERVICES. Elmendorf | Ryan has been hired by New York Private Bank and Trust to lobby on “issues related to technical corrections to financial regulatory reform,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Steve Elmendorf, a former aide to House Democratic Leader Richard Gephardt (Mo.), and Jimmy Ryan, once legislative director and general counsel to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), are lobbying for the bank.

Mercury/Clark & Weinstock has been hired by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants to “monitor accounting and auditing issues and all proposals involving the financial reporting process, corporate governance and participants in U.S. capital markets,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Former Reps. Vin Weber (R-Minn.) and Max Sandlin (D-Texas) are lobbying for the group.

• TAX. Cornerstone Government Affairs has been hired by International Speedway Corp. to lobby on “tax treatment of motorsports facilities. Seeking to preserve the tax treatment the motorsports industry has relied on since its inception. Homeland security issues surrounding motorsports events,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Michelle Mrdeza, once a professional staff member to the House Appropriations Committee, and John Keast, former chief of staff to then-Rep. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), are lobbying for the company.

• TELECOMMUNICATIONS. The Motion Picture Association of America has hired Liz Robbins Associates to lobby on “intellectual property,” according to lobbying disclosure records.

BGR Group has been hired by Pong Research Inc., a Leesburg, Va., company, to “provide guidance and strategic counsel on FCC regulations,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Daniel Murphy, former chief of staff to Housing and Urban Development Secretary Mel Martinez, and Erskine Wells, once chief of staff to Rep. Steve Palazzo (R-Miss.), are lobbying for the company.
