• AGRICULTURE. K&L Gates has been hired by AeroFarms to lobby on “federal assistance to build commercial-scale greenhouses,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Daniel Ritter, former counsel to the Senate Arts, Education & Humanities subcommittee, and Ginger Niemann, former legislative aide to then-Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kan.), are lobbying for the company.
• ENERGY. McBee Strategic Consulting has been hired by Solazyme Inc., a San Francisco-based renewable oil and bioproducts company, to lobby on “issues related to the production of renewable fuels and renewable energy; issues related to the advancement of nutrition and nutritional products; issues related to the promotion of feedstocks for the production of various products; and issues around sustainability throughout the Department of Defense,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Gabriel Horwitz, former legislative director to Rep. Doris Matsui (D-Calif.), and Robert Hobart, once deputy chief of staff to ex-Rep. Zach Wamp (R-Tenn.), are lobbying for the company.
C2 Group has been hired by America’s Health Insurance Plans to lobby on “legislation pertaining to health reform,” according to lobbying disclosure records. D. Patrick Robertson, once a senior aide to Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.), and Scott Styles, former chief of staff to Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Texas), are lobbying for the trade group.
• TAX. Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld has been hired by the Partnership for Job Creation to lobby on “permanency of New Markets Tax Credit program,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Jeff McMillen, a former aide to various House Ways and Means subcommittees, is lobbying for the group.
