• The Bockorny Group has promoted Marty DePoy to executive vice president and chief of staff, in addition to continuing his role in leading the financial services practice. He will work with Dave Bockorny to “[oversee] the firm’s vision and strategic plan.” As chief of staff, he will manage the day-to-day operations of the firm.

Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney has formed a strategic affiliation with former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, aformer GOP presidential candidate, through his consulting firm, Jeb Bush & Associates. He will serve as a consultant to both the firm and its clients. A release says Bush will focus primarily on Florida.

Erick Siahaan, a legislative aide to Rep. Lois Capps (D-Calif.), will be leaving Capitol Hill next month to work as a government relations specialist for the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers, according to congressional tracking website Legistorm. 

The Open Society Foundations has named Patrick H. Gaspard vice president of programs, a newly created position. Gaspard is the U.S. ambassador to South Africa and formerly worked as a senior adviser to President Obama. He will join the philanthropy on Jan. 9 and manage its advocacy work in both Washington and Brussels, in addition to providing strategic consulting to the foundation about its direction and agenda. Gaspard has also served as the executive director of the Democratic National Committee and as political director for Obama for America in 2008. 

Waxman Strategies hired Stephanie Benedict as a senior account executive. She most recently served as a press fellow for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary ClintonHillary Diane Rodham ClintonClinton to headline trio of DNC fundraisers: report Allegations of ‘Trump TV’ distract from real issues at Broadcasting Board of Governors Chelsea Clinton: Politics a 'definite maybe' in the future MORE’s campaign for the White House and has also served within the China practice at the Albright Stonebridge Group. 

Venn Strategies hired two new advocates. JoHannah Torkelson, who previously served on the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition, will serve as a vice president. Michelle Seger, who most recently served as a legislative counsel for Rep. Alex Mooney (R-W.Va.), has been named a senior associate. Torkelson has also been an adviser for the Partnership for a Healthier America on the staff of the Medical College of Wisconsin. Seger’s resume includes several Senate roles.
