• GUNS. The JBH Group has been hired by the Mayors Against Illegal Guns Action Fund for “developing and executing a federal legislative strategy related to legislation and regulation on gun policy,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Jamie Brown Hantman, who served as special assistant to former President George W. Bush, is lobbying for the mayors’ group.
• HEALTHCARE. Arent Fox has been hired by Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta to lobby on “funding opportunities generally regarding autism research and care Policies regarding autism research and care Implementation of Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (entire bill) and Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 (Title I), including essential health benefits,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Dan Renberg, former legislative director and deputy chief of staff to the late Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.), and ex-Sen. Robert Bennett (R-Utah) are lobbying for the pediatric healthcare system.
McDermott Will & Emery has been hired by Amgen to lobby on “international tax reform,” according to lobbying disclosure records. David Noren, once legislative counsel for the Joint Committee on Taxation, is lobbying for the company.
• TELECOMMUNICATIONS. Shockey Scofield Solutions has been hired by T-Mobile to lobby on “issues relating to telecommunications and broadband policy,” according to lobbying disclosure records. John Scofield, former communications director for the House Appropriations Committee, and Jeff Shockey, once staff director for the same panel, are lobbying for the company.
• TRANSPORTATION. Twenty-First Century Group Inc. has been hired by the Manatee County Port Authority in Palmetto, Fla., to lobby on “general issues pertaining to the operation of the Port and, in particular, issues related to the Water Resources Development Act and federal cost-sharing of port projects,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Former Reps. Jack Fields (R-Texas) and Allen Boyd (D-Fla.) are lobbying for the port authority.
