The American Hotel & Lodging Association has named Kevin Carey its executive vice president and chief operating officer, a newly created position. Before that, he held top posts at American Express. 

Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck hired Drew Littman to serve as a policy director in its Washington office. He comes from the Department of Health and Human Services, where he served as a senior counselor to then-Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell during the Obama administration. Littman has also worked at Venn Strategies, a lobbyist for Solazyme — a biotechnology company now known as TerraVia — and as the chief of staff to Sen. Leigh Ann Pusey, who served as CEO of the American Insurance Association for the last eight years, will join Eli Lilly as a senior vice president of corporate affairs and communications. She begins on June 12. Pusey had been with AIA since December 1996.

Andre Banks has become the executive vice president of the social impact and philanthropy practice at BerlinRosen. He has extensive charity and philanthropic experience. Most recently, Banks has been an independent consultant, advising Google Brand Studio, Human Rights Watch and SEIU on campaigns and brand development. Before that, he founded and then served as executive director of an international philanthropic network called All Out. 

Consumer Reports hired Jessica Rich, who served as director of the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Consumer Protection, to serve as vice president of consumer policy and mobilization.

Virginia state Delegate Dave Albo (R), who has served for 24 years, will join Williams Mullen in its government relations practice. In April, he announced that he would not seek reelection and will join the firm shortly after he steps down from office in the fall.

Cornerstone Government hired Chris Sarley away from Capitol Hill. He has spent 14 years working in Congress, most recently as the policy director for Rep. John Shimkus (R-Ill.), and held a senior role on the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Environment.

Boeing has hired Bob Simmons, the GOP staff director for the House Armed Services Committee.

Erin Polak has been named senior director for federal government relations at the biopharmaceutical company Celgene. Prior to that, she held a similar role at the drug manufacturer Merck.
