Subject Matter has named Nicole Cornish its first president and chief operating officer. She comes from the global public affairs firm Burson-Marsteller, where she had spent 15 years, most recently as U.S. chief operating officer. The firm also recently hired Whitaker Askew as a lobbyist, starting on June 5. Askew serves as the vice president of government relations at the American Gaming Association. • Quaker lobbying group Friends Committee on National Legislation is bringing on Anthony Wier, a former deputy assistant secretary in the State Department’s Bureau of Legislative Affairs during the Obama administration. He will be the group’s chief lobbyist for nuclear disarmament and military spending issues. 

Anthony Cimino is taking over the top lobbyist spot at the Financial Services Roundtable. He has been with the industry group since 2012 and previously served as the senior vice president of risk management. Cimino is a former aide on the House Financial Services Committee, where he managed the panel’s international monetary policy subcommittee. 

Bruce Andrews joined the consulting firm Rock Creek Global Advisors as a managing director. Prior to that, he served as deputy secretary of the Commerce Department in the Obama administration. Andrews has also held senior roles at the Senate Commerce Committee, Ford Motor Company and Quinn Gillespie & Associates.

The International Maritime Rescue Federation, which represents both military and civilian marine rescue organizations, named Theresa Crossley its new chief executive officer. She will join the group in October. Crossley serves as the executive director of the United Kingdom Major Ports Group.
