April Fools! Clinton proposes bowling match to settle primary
Posted: 04/01/08 12:58 PM [ET]

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) showed a lighter side on April Fools’ Day by proposing to Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) that their bitter primary fight should be settled in a bowling match.

Obama’s lack of skill on the lanes was made public Monday after the Democratic front-runner admitted to bowling a 38 while campaigning in Pennsylvania.

“It is time for his campaign to get out of the gutter,” Clinton said, in a pun aimed at Obama’s dismal bowling skills but also repeating a charge that her campaign has tried to put on the Illinois senator’s camp.

The former first lady said she would spot Obama two frames and launched into a speech rife with bowling analogies before declaring that it is April Fools’ Day.
