Clinton completes comeback with win in Texas
Posted: 03/05/08 12:50 AM [ET]

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) cemented her case for continuing the fight for the Democratic nomination against Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) by winning Texas and Ohio Tuesday night.

MSNBC and Fox News called the Texas primary for Clinton shortly before 1:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Clinton secured her first victories in almost a month, winning three of four contests Tuesday, and the New York senator made it clear that she plans to continue the fight much deeper into the calendar.

Before Tuesday night, many political observers had begun to write Clinton’s political obituary, but, much like in the New Hampshire primary, Clinton refused to play to expectations.

Prior to the vote, former President Bill Clinton said his wife needed to win both big contests and predicted that she would likely march on to the nomination if she did.

Exit polls showed that Hispanic voters broke huge for Clinton in Texas.

All eyes now turn to Pennsylvania’s April 22 primary, the largest prize remaining on the primary calendar.
