Clinton turns Pa. win into quick cash

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s (D-N.Y.) camp said late Tuesday night it had raised $2.5 million since earlier in the night when the Pennsylvania primary was called in her favor.

The former first lady was in need of both a big win and a significant cash infusion as a result, and it appeared that just before midnight she had gotten both.

An email from the campaign called the sum “our best night ever,” adding in the email with “$$$” as a subject line that more than 80 percent of those giving Tuesday night were new donors.

With 90 percent of the votes tallied, Clinton had a 10-point lead over Democratic rival Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.).
