Dahlkemper up 7 in Kos poll
Posted: 10/14/08 06:51 PM [ET]
Rep. Phil English (R) trails Democratic challenger Kathy Dahlkemper 48-41 in the race for Pennsylvania’s 3rd congressional district, according to a Research 2000 poll for the liberal Daily Kos website.

The results echo recent independent polling that also has Dahlkemper ahead.

The poll shows Dahlkemper, a local businesswoman, leading the seven-term congressman in favorability ratings. It found 49 percent of likely voters view Dahlkemper favorably and 28 percent view her unfavorably, compared to 39 percent favorable and 45 percent unfavorable for English.

In a press release, Dahlkemper said, “Everywhere I go, people tell me that they want a change, that they are ready for a fresh voice in Washington.”

Adam Beebe, a spokesman for English’s campaign, questioned the accuracy of the poll.

“We’re very confident with our campaign and the ways things are going. We’ll be continuing with the plan we’ve started,” Beebe said. “We see this poll as completely invalid.”

The poll sampled 400 likely voters from Oct. 6-8 and has a margin of error of 5 percent.
