DCCC adds eight to Red to Blue |

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has added eight challengers to its Red to Blue program, expanding the program to more than 60 races. The DCCC is now targeting nearly one-third of Republican-held seats. Included now are previous long-shots Larry Joe Doherty in Texas, Becky Greenwald in Iowa, Jim Harlan in Louisiana, Linda Ketner in South Carolina, Nick Leibham in California, Josh Segall in Alabama, Dennis Shulman in New Jersey and El Tinklenberg in Minnesota. Doherty, the former host of television’s “Texas Justice,” has been raising big money all cycle against Rep. Michael McCaul (R) but faces a tall task in a district that voted 62 percent for President Bush in 2004. The hill is even steeper in Louisiana, where the self-funding Harlan is trying to unseat Rep. Steve Scalise (R) in a 71-percent Bush district that gave Scalise 75 percent of the vote in the May special election. Greenwald is challenging Rep. Tom Latham (R-Iowa), Ketner is taking on Rep. Henry Brown (R-S.C.), Leibham faces Rep. Brian Bilbray (R-Calif.), Segall is challenging Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Ala.), Shulman is taking on Rep. Scott Garrett (R-N.J.) and Tinklenberg faces Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.). |
