Fred Thompson in remission for lymphoma
Posted: 04/11/07 10:36 AM [ET]
Potential presidential candidate and former Sen. Fred Thompson (R-Tenn.) told Fox News Wednesday that he is in remission from lymphoma but indicated that the illness would not affect a potential White House run.

In a statement to the news network, Thompson said he was diagnosed with indolent lymphoma two and a half years ago.

“I have had no illness from it, or even any symptoms,” Thompson said in the statement. “My life expectancy should not be affected. I am in remission, and it is very treatable with drugs if treatment is needed in the future — and with no debilitating side effects.”

The former senator and current star of the TV show “Law & Order” said he would evaluate the Republican field before deciding if he should join the race for the GOP nomination.
