Giuliani: Obama picked Biden out of weakness |

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) on Sunday said Barack Obama’s decision to pick Joe Biden to join him on the Democratic ticket shows weakness. “The strong choice would have been Hillary Clinton. The obvious choice would have been Hillary Clinton,” said Giuliani, who had sought the Republican nomination before dropping out early in the race. Following Sen. Obama’s (Ill.) decision to pick Sen. Biden (Del.), Republicans have made a concerted effort to put a rift between the presumptive Democratic nominee and supporters of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) ahead of the party's convention in Denver. “You almost have to go to extraordinary lengths to avoid her as the vice presidential pick of the party,” Giuliani said on ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos”. “And it seems to me that for whatever reason that hasn’t been explained, a choice was made out of weakness than strength.” The campaign of Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) released an ad featuring clips of Clinton criticizing Obama and indicating that the former first lady was “passed over” in the search for a running mate because she had “told the truth” and “Obama didn’t like it.” |
