Obama completes Chesapeake sweep
Posted: 02/12/08 09:31 PM [ET]
Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) is projected to win Tuesday night’s primary in Maryland, completing a three-contest sweep that began earlier in the night with wins in D.C. and Virginia.

Bad weather kept the polls open in Maryland an hour and a half longer than expected. Despite that freezing rain and snow, Obama continued to put together a string of victories over rival Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.), who has not won a contest since Super Tuesday.

Clinton was largely expected to fare poorly in the so-called Potomac primary, and her campaign spent the last few days looking forward to March 4 contests in Texas and Ohio.

Obama is looking immediately ahead to next Tuesday’s contests in Wisconsin and his home state of Hawaii.
