Obama signs Clinton’s women's outreach director
Posted: 07/08/08 11:18 AM [ET]
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on Tuesday announced that he is adding Dana Singiser as a senior adviser to his campaign.

Singiser was until recently the director for women’s outreach in Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s (D-N.Y.) presidential campaign and before that worked in the former first lady’s Senate office.

Many analysts have wondered aloud whether Obama could bring women back under the Democratic tent following the Illinois senator’s protracted and at times bitter nomination battle with Clinton that drew charges of sexism.

“As president, Barack Obama will work to make life better for women,” Singiser stated. “Sen. Obama will fight to keep our right to choose, and will work hard to ensure that women are given equal pay for equal work because it is wrong that women still make only 77 cents for every dollar a man makes.”

The hiring statement was unique in that it featured a statement from Clinton, who said she is “thrilled that Dana will continue her work with women voters on behalf of Sen. Obama.”

“It is so important that we elect a Democrat to the White House, and women will be critical in that effort,” Clinton said. “I know that the women who joined my campaign will continue to work with Dana and with me to make sure Barack Obama is the next president of the United States.”
