Obama takes Vermont
Posted: 03/04/08 07:01 PM [ET]

Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) was projected to win the Vermont primary, the first of four Tuesday contests collectively being called Super Tuesday Two.

Obama was expected to do well in the state with most pundits giving him an enormous polling advantage in recent days.

While the Obama campaign is no doubt hoping for a big net gain of delegates in the state, the political world is eagerly waiting for results from Ohio and Texas, the two big prizes of the night.

According to network exit polls, Vermont voters broke with the other March 4 states, saying that the Iraq War is just as big a concern as the economy.

Those same exit polls showed independents made up four of 10 voters, which has so far this year been a good harbinger for Obama.
