Romney leads first round in West Virginia
Posted: 02/05/08 01:07 PM [ET]
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney holds an eight-point lead after the first round of voting in the West Virginia Republican Presidential Convention, but there will be a second round of voting because no candidate received more than 50 percent.

Romney took 41 percent with 464 votes, while former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee took 33 percent and Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) took 16 percent. Rep. Ron Paul (Texas) took 10 percent and will not be a part of the second round.

The session will reconvene for another vote at 1:30 p.m. EST. It will award 18 of the state’s 30 delegates to the Republican National Convention.
