Storm cancels Jeff Bridges’s jam with Maryland governor
Turns out The Dude and the governor won’t be sharing a song after all.
Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley’s chance at making beautiful music with “The Big Lebowski” actor Jeff Bridges was washed away when a massive rainstorm put the kibosh on a Monday concert at the CarolinaFest outside the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte.
The Maryland Democrat, who used to play in a Celtic rock band called O’Malley’s March, was slated to join the Academy Award-winning “Crazy Heart” star onstage. Bridges, who dabbles as a musician, is performing at both parties’ conventions to push for an end to childhood hunger.
ITK caught up with the entertainer later that day at the IMPACT Film Festival’s kick-off party, where he lamented, “I was going to jam with Martin O’Malley, but we got rained out. But we worked up a tune, the whole deal.”
Asked if a Bridges/O’Malley mash-up would be happening anytime in the future to make up for the rained-out gig, Bridges, 62, replied, “I don’t know. You never know with that guy.”
