Q Do you watch your weight on the campaign trail

By Natalie McGill - 07/18/06 08:00 PM ET

Rep. Thaddeus McCotter (R-Mich.):
“No.”

Rep. Mike Sodrel (R-Ind.): “I don’t really have to. I walk so many parades and get so few opportunities to eat. It takes care of itself.”

Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-N.Y.): “I watch my weight at all times.”

Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.): “I try to, but it doesn’t work. On the campaign trail is where I probably go off my diet the most. [You’re] grabbing cold drinks, eating snacks and fast food. It’s all bad news.”

Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.): “Oh yeah, definitely.”

Rep. Walter Jones (R-N.C.): “I’m very careful about what I eat. I never eat too much.”

Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.): “I’m obsessed with it. I’m obsessed with the way I eat. I don’t eat meat. I’m careful up here because if a member’s not careful, the reception [circuit] can be an admittance to the hospital.”

Rep. John Sweeney (R-N.Y.): “I lost 8 pounds, so I’m trying. And you’re always eating at these events.”

Rep. Jos
