Q Do you gamble if so, what game do you play

By Betsy Rothstein - 05/17/06 08:00 PM ET

Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.): “I plant flowers. I gamble by planting flowers. Last night I stayed up in my yard planting flowers until 11:16. I water the flowers. I fertilize the flowers and hope and pray that they will be beautiful.”

Rep. Bobby Scott (D-Va.): “Is the Fifth Amendment appropriate? I did play a lot of poker in college.”

Rep. Katherine Harris (R-Fla.): “I have in the past. When I’ve been out to Vegas someone will show me.”

Rep. Randy Kuhl (R-N.Y.): “Not really. Probably the most gambling I do is play golf, a $1 [game] with my sons. The person who wins the first nine holes wins the dollar.”

Rep. Collin Peterson (D-Minn.): “I don’t. I hate Vegas. It’s one vice I don’t have.”

Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.): “No, I don’t. The only gambling I do is every two years in November [when I] run for reelection.”

Rep. Mike Simpson (R-Idaho): “Every time I wake up, I gamble. Life is a gamble. Life is a terminal illness if you really think about it [laughs].” More seriously, he says, “We usually play golf for money. Sometimes a lot of money. I play cards regularly, a little gin [rummy]. It’s not expensive money.”

Rep. Denny Rehberg (R-Mont.): “I was in Vegas last week. I had a fundraiser there. I never put a single quarter in a slot machine. I’m too cheap. I hate to lose money.”

Rep. Jos
