The first lady was scheduled to be in Los Angeles Friday and in San Francisco Sunday.

Ironically, her Los Angeles stop was to make up for a Democratic National Committee fundraiser President Obama was to attend in September but had to cancel because of the crisis in Syria.

The first lady was also set to attend a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee fundraiser in San Francisco with House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.).

The events will be rescheduled after the shutdown, said a Democratic source.

The majority of White House staff has been furloughed during the shutdown, including those in the office who plan trips for the Obamas.
