Q: What outdoor activities do you like to do during the summer?

• Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.): I like to swim and fish at Sedona [Ariz.].
• Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas): I like to hunt, but there’s not a lot of hunting in the summertime. I’m not a golfer, but I like to run outside — nothing too exciting.

• Rep. Paul Hodes (D-N.H.): Walking, biking, kayaking, golf and sailing on the Contoocook River near my house. I also like to play golf at Beaver Meadow, which is the local public course. I am a golfer of the people.

• Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.): I’m a big walker. I ran for 30 years, but my knees gave way. But now I go swimming; we have a pool in our neighborhood and I go at least once a day.

• Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.) : I’m a golfer, and I love to go to the beach with my grandchildren. We go to a beach in north Florida, just across the border from Georgia, Fernandina Beach.
• Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine): I kayak, and I enjoy cooking outside, grilling.

• Rep. John Boozman (R-Ark.): I like to play golf, but I don’t get to do it near as much as I would like. I enjoy getting out with my buddies, going to Beaver Lake, which is near my home.

•Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.): Things I can’t do — fish and play softball. I’ve got no time.
•Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.): I enjoy chopping wood, laying in a nice supply for winter.

• Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.): I am so klutzy, anything physical other than walking is a stretch. I never learned to ride a bike, a source of great embarrassment to my three daughters.

• Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah): I play golf. I like to walk a lot, especially in the mountains. Most of the time I’m reading and studying.
• Sen. Mark Pryor (D-Ark.): I enjoy fishing and going to the lake with my family. We go to a lake called Greer’s Ferry in Arkansas.
 •  Sen. Bob Casey Jr. (D-Pa.): I jog, and I’m somewhat of a basketball player, but I haven’t played outside lately. I should do more activities that involve boats, because we have a place by the lake.

• Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.): The summer here is the wrong time to do anything outside. I would love to play golf, but there is no time. I’ll do anything with my family as long as it’s as close to  my home as it possibly can be.

• Rep. George Miller (D-Calif.): I go on a backpacking trip to the high country in Yosemite [National Park]. I’ve been going for 25 years with neighbors and friends.
