Solis to host radio show for Labor Day

By Christina Wilkie - 09/02/09 09:31 PM ET

Labor Secretary Hilda Solis will be a guest DJ on Sirius Satellite Radio's adult rock station throughout the upcoming Labor Day Weekend.

Sec. Solis will play music “about work and workers in observance of Labor Day,” beginning Friday at 3 p.m. and will continue through midnight on Monday, according to a post on the station's website.

The station is called The Spectrum, and it bills itself as "spanning the past, present, and future with adult album rock artists."

Sirius even offers a preview of the Secretary's set list: “Listeners can expect to hear Bruce Springsteen's "Working on the Highway," The Clash's "Career Opportunities," Bob Marley's " Work," and Bob Dylan's "Maggie's Farm."

Solis has also reportedly chosen a surprise tribute song to play in honor of her own boss, President Barack Obama.

Luckily for Solis, Obama has broad tastes in music. During his 2008 presidential campaign, Obama revealed that he had at least one song by hip-hop star Jay-Z programmed on his ipod, in addition to music by cellist Yo-Yo Ma, folk hero Bob Dylan and rockers Bruce Springsteen and Sheryl Crow.
