Job moves

Communications agency names two new members to advisory council: Global strategic communications agency Waggener Edstrom Worldwide announced Marshall C. Phelps Jr. and Ken Rietz as part of its Global Public Affairs Advisory Council. Phelps is a recently retired corporate vice president for IP Policy and Strategy at Microsoft Corp., and Rietz is a public affairs and communications executive.

Policy Committee staffer welcomes daughter: Andy Chasin, health policy counsel for the Senate Republican Policy Committee, and wife Gargee Ghosh, an international health economist at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, have a new daughter. Zara Sedona Chasin was born on Aug. 10, three weeks early. Sedona is in honor of Sedona, Ariz., where Chasin and Ghosh married. Zara was 5 pounds, 12 ounces at birth, but is already over 9 pounds. Chasin said she knew to come early so he could spend the August recess with her.

Livingston Group welcomes new advisers to firm: The Livingston Group, a bipartisan government- and public-affairs company, hired Dr. Anthony Tether and Dr. Arthur Bruckheim to its firm. 

Rep. Burgess makes some staff changes: Rep. Michael Burgess (R-Texas) has some office changes this fall, including Jessica Strauss’s promotion from staff assistant to legislative correspondent. Coleman Garrison, who interned with Burgess’s office in the spring of last year, is now a staff assistant.
Other changes involve Matt Johnson, a former energy, financial services and armed services legislative assistant leaving the office to pursue a double master’s degree in business administration and global security from Johns Hopkins University. 

House Republican leader announces new communications staff: House Republican Leader John Boehner (Ohio) announced new communications staff last week. Michael Ricci will join the team as deputy communications director, taking over for Steve Forde, who is now senior director of corporate communications with the Education Management Corp. in Pittsburgh. Ricci previously worked for Rep. Chris Lee (R-N.Y.) as communications director. Before that, Ricci worked as deputy communications director for the House Republican Conference under the chairman at the time, Adam Putnam (R-Fla.). Ricci is a 2002 Columbia University graduate.
