What's on your nightstand: Rep. John Boozman (R-Ark.)

By Jordy Yager - 07/09/09 02:08 PM ET
What book is on your nightstand right now?
I just finished reading The Silent Man [by Alex Berenson]. It’s a historical read, but it reads easily, like historical fiction.

What magazines do you read regularly?
I’ve got a wife and three daughters, so I’m most prone to the magazines lying on my coffee table — People and things like that.

What’s your guilty-pleasure read?
I don’t know that I really have a guilty-pleasure read, although I like historical fiction more than anything.

What books most influenced your political philosophy?
My favorite book in the whole world is Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott. I don’t know how much it’s influenced my political philosophy, but there are such great tales in there, and they always tell about life — lots of lessons on moral values.

What books about Washington should every member of Congress read?
Charlie Wilson’s War.

Which author do you most often reference?
It really varies, depending on who I’m talking to, but I would say mostly the Founding Fathers.
