Michelle Obama to visit Duke Ellington with Russia’s first lady

The visit is scheduled to take place Thursday afternoon, and the students will put on a performance of dance and music for the first ladies.

Known as one of the city’s best public schools, Duke Ellington counts among its alumni the comedian Dave Chappelle and the opera singer Denyce Graves.

The school visit is also a thank-you, of sorts, from Obama to Medvedeva. The Moiseyev Dance Company put on a special performance in Moscow, where Michelle Obama and Medvedeva sat with an audience of Russian schoolchildren.
