Obama can’t ‘keep the change’

By Christina Wilkie - 06/30/10 08:06 PM ET

Here’s one more reason why being the president is so different from being a normal person: You don’t get to keep the change.

During a visit to O&H Danish Bakery in Wisconsin on Tuesday, President Barack Obama explained that he likes paying for things because “I never get to pay for anything.”

And on the rare occasion when he does get to use cash, like at burger joints or local bookstores, he doesn’t get to keep the rest of his money. “They take my change away,” he told the bakery clerk.

No word on how much change Obama had to turn over on Tuesday, but the three Kringle pastries he bought set him back $22.45.
