Sotomayor to pen memoir

By Christina Wilkie - 07/12/10 07:58 PM ET

Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor will pen a memoir recounting her rise from a daughter of immigrants to a member of the high court.

Book publisher Alfred Knopf announced Monday that Sotomayor would publish the still-untitled work with his imprint, part of the Knopf Doubleday Group.

The book is expected to detail Sotomayor’s youth living in the Bronx as the child of immigrants from Puerto Rico and her subsequent journeys through Princeton and Yale Law School to eventually become a federal judge, and now, a Supreme Court justice.

“I am honored to be working with the distinguished publishing house of Alfred A. Knopf on the publication of my memoir,” Sotomayor said in a release announcing the book.
