Grayson to critic: ‘I’d punch back’

By Christina Wilkie - 07/21/10 07:43 PM ET

Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) said Tuesday that he’d “punch back” if anyone followed the instruction of conservative media critic Dan Gainor, who had tweeted that he’d give $100 to the first House member “who punches smary [sic] idiot Alan Grayson in nose.”

Gainor, vice president of the Media Research Center, tweeted later that while it was a “humorous offer ... [he’d] love to see the video.”

He had called Grayson a “caricature of a congressman” in response to remarks Grayson made on the House floor criticizing Republicans for their stance on unemployment benefits.

The freshman congressman answered Gainor on Tuesday night during an interview with MSNBC host Ed Schultz.

“I just want to let him know that I’d punch back. You should see my reach,” he said.
