Lawmaker trains for triathlon amid ‘tons of bees’

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) doesn’t let swarms of stinging insects interrupt his workouts.

The avid triathlete was spotted on Labor Day swimming laps in the Tallyho Swim Club pool in Potomac, Md., wearing tight, black, athletic swim trunks.

Outside the water, an ITK spy reports that swarms of bees and wasps were “everywhere,” and that more than a dozen children were stung. Schiff, however, appeared unfazed.

One potential reason for the bees: Children at the pool were taking part in an annual Labor Day tradition where they lay on their towels and a “fairy” came around and dropped off candy — red licorice and Dummy lollipops were spotted, along with other sugary treats.

According to his spokeswoman, Schiff will be doing a triathlon later this fall — just months after he completed his last one in June.

Tallyho Swim Club did not return a call seeking comment.
