“For the first time in my life, I am absolutely thinking about it,” said Trump. “I don’t know that I’ll do it. It’s probable that I won’t do it, but I can tell you, I’m thinking about it.
“Somebody has to do something. We are losing this country. This country will not be great if something isn’t done rapidly. Hello to Pat Buchanan, because he’s got a lot of good answers.”
Trump made the couched announcement on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” program with Joe Scarborough on Tuesday after co-host Mika Brzezinski pressed him on the matter.
Trump, a self-professed Republican, spent the majority of his time on the show railing against China and its manipulation of currency, saying, “It’s very, very hard to compete when you have a false currency” and “We are rebuilding China with this country.”
News of the mogul’s possible political bid came to a head this week after Time’s Mark Halperin reported that a poll conducted last month in New Hampshire had asked potential voters whether they would support Trump among a bevy of other GOP figures for president in 2012.
Trump has continued to deny that he had any involvement in soliciting the poll, though it remains unclear who financed it.
