Susan Sher’s going-away party

By Christina Wilkie - 01/24/11 08:16 PM ET

Staff turnover at the White House is in full swing, which means Washingtonians can expect a slew of send-off parties.

One of the first such parties was held on Sunday, in honor of Susan Sher, first lady Michelle Obama’s departing chief of staff.

Friends from Washington and Chicago feted Sher with a lunch at the Jefferson Hotel hosted by real estate executive Connie Milstein and two of the city’s best-known PR agents, Hilary Rosen and Tammy Haddad.

The guest list included three colleagues of Sher’s at the White House, all of whom will depart soon to join President Obama’s reelection campaign: senior adviser David Axelrod, White House social secretary Julianna Smoot and White House political director Patrick Gaspard.

According to WHC Insider.com, a running joke at the lunch was that all the former White House staffers would be making plans together in Chicago, from which Sher hails, and where Obama’s reelection campaign will be headquartered.
