Heller’s prize elk avoids the trash on moving day

By Christina Wilkie - 05/04/11 07:42 PM ET

Rep. Dean Heller (R-Nev.) is in the process of moving from the House side to the Senate, following his appointment to replace recently resigned Sen. John Ensign (R). And his prized bull elk head is moving with him.

An ITK tipster sent in this photo of the 14-point mounted buck waiting in the hallway of Cannon for his big move.

But not everyone thought the buck was a prized piece of office furniture.

“Is that garbage?” inquired one passer-by.

According to Heller’s spokesman, the answer is: No way.

“It’s a bull elk shot by the congressman in Lincoln County, Nev., about 15 years ago.”
Here’s hoping the trophy made it safely to the upper chamber.
