Despite calling prez
‘anti-American,’ Christine O’Donnell invited to lunch with Michelle Obama

By Christina Wilkie - 05/18/11 08:00 PM ET

Former Delaware Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell (R) called President Obama “anti-American” in 2008, but that wasn’t enough to bar her from a lunch Wednesday with first lady
Michelle Obama.

The lunch was hosted by The Congressional Club, a coalition of congressional spouses founded in 1908.

O’Donnell tweeted Wednesday, “I’m at the First Lady’s Luncheon in DC. Politics aside, I truly enjoyed Michelle Obama’s speech. Very honoring of our military.”

Inquiries to the first lady’s office about how O’Donnell ended up at the lunch were directed to the Congressional Club. Emails and phone messages left at the club were not answered by press time.
