Weiner: Let’s talk about Medicare

Democrats are desperately trying to get the media’s focus away from Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) and back on Medicare.

But it’s an uphill battle, especially if your last name is Weiner.

On Monday, ITK received a press release from the liberal Americans United for Change, titled in part, “Medicare Continues to Dominate Discussion.”

It was sent by Lauren Weiner, the group’s deputy communications director.

In an email, Weiner said that she is not related to the embattled congressman and that, yes, she has taken a bit of grief for her last name: “As a Weiner for many years, you either come to embrace it or shy away. I’ve long since come to embrace it. Believe me, I’ve heard all the jokes before. I take it in stride.”
