Reps. Eshoo, Rokita on the mend and back in the House
A couple of House members are back in action after being sidelined.
Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-Calif.) underwent a successful laparoscopic appendectomy at Stanford Hospital earlier this month, missing votes last week.
Eshoo’s district office fielded hundreds of calls, and well-wishers dropped off cards, flowers and, in one case, scones.
Rep. Todd Rokita (R-Ind.), meanwhile, had surgery on June 10 to repair a torn Achilles’ tendon.
How did he do that?
“In one of the most Hoosier ways possible — during a pickup basketball game at the members gym,” according to a statement provided to ITK. (For the non-basketball fan, basketball is kind of big in Indiana.)
Rokita’s doctor encouraged him not to travel for a while after the surgery, so he presumably watched a lot of C-SPAN, as well as the NBA Finals, from home. The freshman returned to the House on Wednesday.
