Sen. McConnell not jealous of Boehner and Obama’s golf outing

By The Hill Staff - 06/22/11 06:41 PM ET

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Wednesday made it clear that he is not pining to play golf with President Obama.

Obama last Saturday played a round of golf with Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), but don’t look for the Senate minority leader to tee it up with the commander in chief any time soon.

During a Christian Science Monitor breakfast, McConnell was asked, “How is your golf game?”

“I don’t have a golf game,” McConnell said, laughing. “Therefore, I was not offended not to be included.”

Asked on Wednesday what he and the president discussed during their round, Boehner responded, “Golf.”

That’s it? Nothing on Libya or the debt-limit negotiations? Maybe a little chat about the ailing economy?

Nope.

“That was it — golf,” Boehner said.
