Ben Stein, Dean Koontz pony up for Bachmann

By The Hill Staff - 06/29/11 07:13 PM ET

Celebrities in Hollywood and beyond are not fond of Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), contributing to her Democratic opponents over the last couple of election cycles.

But the Tea Party lawmaker also has some famous political supporters.

Ben Stein, known in part for his “Bueller ... Bueller ... Bueller” line in the 1986 film “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” has donated to Bachmann’s war chest this year. Best-selling author Dean Koontz also dug into his pockets earlier this year for the outspoken conservative legislator.

Stein and Koontz are outnumbered by high-profile Democratic donors who have endorsed Bachmann’s general-election opponents in recent years. They include Jessica Lange, Nora Ephron, Carol Leif and Lawrence Kasdan.

Another big name who is not a fan of Bachmann is Mark Wilf, who gave to one of her congressional opponents. Wilf is part-owner of the Minnesota Vikings.
